I was excited to find out that my set of felted bowls with lids was one of the products featured in The Storque in the Etsy Finds section yesterday on Etsy.
I was getting so many views and hearts yesterday and didn't know why until I did a bit of investigating. I wrote a few of the people who hearted my bowls with lids asking them if they could tell me where they discovered my bowls because I couldn't find them in any of the treasuries for that day. They all wrote me back and told me that they saw them in Etsy Finds in a newsletter that they receive from etsy. I'm now subscribed to that newsletter.:)

My Nesting Bowls and Eggs Featured

Felted Acorns

Here is an example of a few of the different sized acorns I can make. The ones I'm about to show you are the size of the last two you see in this picture. The beige one being about 1.25" in length from top to bottom andthe cream one is about 1".

I am starting to run out of last years acorn cap harvest and mostly have just a few small caps left.

This Fall I will try to get as many as I can until they are done falling. Last year I didn't know that I would be making so many of them for custom orders and such and didn't get as many as I should have. I had to go looking for more after the snow had fallen and they darkened in color but after a good washing they were very usable. Thankfully there wasn't much snow this last winter otherwise I'm not sure they would have faired as well.

I just listed this set of three cream colored acorns today at my Esty shop.

I had made this miniature book with the intention of listing it at my Etsy shop but I liked it so much I kept it for myself and added it to my key chain.:)

I added antique looking corner tabs to it and a hand stamped bird to the front. I bound it together with a beige colored hemp twine.

When I'm done getting this house all ready for selling, I will probably make more for my shop as well.:)

I did list this one though. It is just a bit bigger than my keychain one.

For this I used some real birch bark, krinkled and tea washed 100% recycled paper, hemp twine, cardboard for the covers and some black corner protectors.

I also listed these simple yet sweet cardboard journals as well. They are each about 2.25"x2.74".

I think that they would make great nature, bird or garden journals.:)

For these I used cardboard for the covers, some lovely creamy repurposed writing paper , and I handstamped it with pretty little birds with one saying, "Come Fly With Me." So sweet.:)

Hello all!:)
I'm sorry I have been so slow to blogging anything lately after our vacation. I just can't seem to find the time or gumption to do so. My laptop had an unfortunate incident happen to it and so the hardrive was destroyed basically. I lost everything that was on it so remember to always back your stuff up on disks or flash drives in case of such things happening to you.:) I'm using our desktop computer right now that was basically hardly ever used before. Had to set things up on it and get it online since it hadn't been since we went from dial up to a high speed Internet. It's working out fine but I can't wait to get another laptop.

Anyway, on my laptop, I had a list of email addresses of those of you who wanted to be put on my mailing list for updates on sales going on in my shop or giveaways I do sometimes. That list is gone now so if you still would like to be on my mailing list, please email me your email address and write in the subject heading, "add to list." Thankyou.:)

Spring Floral Crocheted Nesting Bowls

Here is my latest nesting bowls. I think that they make lovely spring and summer decor for any room in the home. They can be filled with so many things as well as just plain old tid bits of whatever.:)

Mini Felted Bowls

This is what my felted bowls look like before I felt them.

Very plain and not too attractive loosely crocheted bowls.

Then I put them through a couple loads in the wash machine with very hot water and dish soap to wet felt them.

So much prettier this way.:)

This particular set is a miniature set with very tiny eggs. I gave it away but am in the process of making more for my shop.

The eggs were also crocheted first, put in a mesh bag, put through the wash as well to felt it a bit, then I hand felted them with velcro, then do a bit more wet felting by hand to get them just the way I like them.

My First Fabric Flowers

I have been seeing so many lovely fabric flowers on etsy and other places lately and so I thought that I try my hand at it as well.

Here's the result of my efforts.:)

I am so pleased with them too.

I had an old cashmere or cashmere blend sweater that was too small for me that I chopped up into different sized strips with the purpose of making different sized flowers. The thought did cross my mind that maybe I should give the shirt to someone who could wear it but I just couldn't get it out of my head that it would make beautiful flowers.:)

I even added an old cloth covered shank button to one and a glittered star to another.

Then I was inspired to make another journal with one of my flowers glued to the front. I love it.

I will probably put it up for sale in my Etsy shop soon unless I keep it for myself. But I really don't need more journals...for real.:)

Actually...I may even sell some of these flowers too or just use them on other projects. Not sure yet.

Felted Cream Bowls for Baby Shower

I receieved a custom order for a set of bowls for a baby shower and this is it. The nest of two bowls with the eggs will be for the mama to be and the other single bowls will be filled with goodies. I'm adding some of my cut up old book paper for effect at no extra charge.:)

These beautiful papers were originally 12"x12" in size. I cut them down to 6"x6"(by hand). Perfect size for brown paper bag scrapbooks. Since the paper pads usually come with 3 sheets per design, I like to share at least one set and use the rest myself.:)

It's finally here! My February Giveaway!

I decided to give away one of my nestlike felted bowls and 3 felted eggs. Between the eggs and bowl is a nest of hand cut book paper from an old Little House on the Prairie book that had fallen completely apart. I've been using that paper for all kinds of crafts since that happened.:) To beautifully aged to throw out.

Anyway, I also included a handstamped manilla tag with jute twine for it's tie wrapped with well over 2 ft each of 3 different tea dyed laces that I dyed myself for you to use in your own crafty endeavors.:)

The nest and eggs were both crocheted first and then wet felted by hand(the eggs) and also by putting through a load or two in the washing machine(the nest).

I was experimenting with this cool smilebox applications and just love it. I had put links to each bowl but sadly you can't click on the link or even copy and paste it to get to each bowl. Oh well, it's a cool way to display photos accompanied with music.:)

Nesting Bowls

I love nesting bowls. I love making them. The felted ones I make are even more satisfying because it's so much fun to watch them shrink down with this whole new texture after washing them, I then get to shape them just so in order for them to nest together just right.

I like to use recycled yarns as much as possible and some of the organic yarns I've used are just so lovely.

December Giveaway Winner

The kiddos are in bed and I'm finally able to announce the winner of my December giveaway.

Before I got the boys in bed I had them draw the winning name and even a runner up. I do the runner up just in case the person who won doesn't respond to me after I email them about how they won and whatnot. If I don't have an address to send it to them than I would use the second name that was drawn.

Actually, I knew right away after my youngest drew the first name that I wouldn't have to do a runner up because I already had her address. Awhile back she bought a few items from my store and so I of course would still have her address. I thought that I'd go ahead and choose another name anyway and give them a little something too.

As a matter of fact, there was a very small amount of entries but that is quite alright.

Here is the very small but mighty list of names that I have on small strips of paper that I then folded and put in one of the bowls to be given away.

I had my 14 year old boy hold the bowl while my two little ones drew the names.

First I had my 4 year old, grubby fingers and all, draw the winning name.

Don't worry, they can't read yet and frankly, I don't think they even care.:)

Earth Friendly December Giveaway!!

I'm finally doing another giveaway. I hope ya like this one.:)

I put together a sweet and simple grouping of subdued, natural colored, earth friendly items that I would sell in my Etsy shop or here.

There is the handmade journal that I made with 100% recycled papers. The pages inside are a beautiful specked tan color. The cover is made from card stock, also a specked tan with an enhancement I did of an old illustration of a beehive. There is 24 sheets(48pages) of paper inside.
I then bound it all together with some jute twine.

Then I added a set of my bowls that I crocheted with a favorite yarn of mine that is 75% recycled cotton and 25% acrylic. I often call my nesting bowls "tidbit catchers" now because that is what they seem to be around here. I've got them all over the house!:)

Last but not least, I threw in one of my felted acorns with a real acorn cap. It is first crocheted then felted by hand. This particular wool I had tea dyed first.

It was one of my ready to embellish cardboard cover journals.

I think it to be my first time being in a treasury unless someone had done it before without telling me.:)

Cardboard Journals Finished!

I got them done!

I ended up taking out the burlap ties I originally had tied the book together with and stitched them up a whole new way which looks so much better, in my opinion anyway.

I still used burlap twine.

Actually, I love how they turned out.

I even made a small one about half the size of the larger one.

The large ones are 4 1/4"X5 1/2" with 64 sheets(128 pages) of beautiful 100% recycled papers.

The small one is 2 3/4"X4 1/4" with 32 sheets(64 pages) of the same recycled papers.

I decided to keep the covers blank so that whoever ends up with them can decorate them they way they would like to make it more personal.

I simply wrapped them with another piece of twine and tied the twine into a bow all ready for selling.:)

Cardboard Covered Journals

I'm working on some Journals that I think are going to be so great.

I'm using cardboard that I cut from boxes and making covers out of it.

I'm filling the journal with gorgeous speckled 100%recycled paper that I use quite alot when making my journals.

To bind the covers of the journal and the paper together, I am going to use some burlap twine that was originally braided and was a tie for some new recycled towels I had bought. I don't like to throw out anything that is still worth using for something else. But that only pertains to things mostly to do with my art.

I know that they don't look like much now but that will soon change.:)

Will post the final results when I'm done.

Work in Progress

I started working on this shadowbox in September of 2008. I worked on it for a short time and left it like this. I know that there is still more that I need to add but I haven't really gave it too much thought. I now have it hanging on my wall down here in my craft room so that I can look at it from time to time to be reminded of its unfinished state. It looks ok the way it is I guess but my eyes keep telling me that there needs to be something more.

Any ideas anyone?
